Gurgaon-Rewari Road a national highway, elevated road at Badshahpur soon

GURGAON: In a major boost to the road infrastructure in Gurgaon, the Union government on Wednesday designated the busy Gurgaon-Rewari highway via Pataudi as a national highway. The decision has been pending for a long time, demanded by the people of South Haryana.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Union minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari after a meeting with the Haryana PWD minister Rao Narbir Singh in New Delhi.

In another development which would help commuters on Rajiv Chowk and Badshahpur stretch on Sohna-Alwar national highway, the NHAI has decided to construct a 2.5 km long elevat-ed road at Badshahpur.

It was also announced that an 8 km long road connecting Masani and Rewari would be four -lanai. With the inclusion of this road, Gurgaon will now have the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway and Mehrauli-Gurgaon road also as a National Highway, which is expected to boost the transport infrastructure and connectivity to the Millennium City.

Gadkari also announced that the NHAI would bear 75 per cent costs of the underpasses at Iffco Chowk, Signature Tower and Rajiv Chowk. Instructions were also issued for expediting the project of building the flyo-ver and the underpass at Hero Honda Chowk.

The Union minister also authorized the state government to complete the portion of the project of four laning of NH-21A in Haryana. The total length of this project is 38.78 km, out of which 21.43 km from Pinjore to Baddi up to Himachal Pradesh border falls in Haryana.
