Sohna Elevated Road Project to be completed by first week of July

Sohna elevated road near Subhash Chowk has been granted the permission for having two more access points by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This road along with the Jail Road near Bhondsi is paving the way towards the successful opening of the project (whole highway) from the first week of July. The Sohna elevated road project has two parts — an elevated 8.94km section from Subash Chowk to a point beyond Badshahpur, which will be opened from the first week of July, and a 12.72km-long road from Badshahpur to Sohna, a part of which was opened for vehicular movement on April 1 this year. This project will provide commuters a relief as they will have easy access to the vehicles coming from service lanes. Till now, apart from the entry and exits points at Sohna and Subash Chowk in Gurugam, the 21.6km road had only one access point that too in the midway of the highway at Ghamroj toll plaza.

There were many talks in the town regarding the issues of more access points to the project. This need for more access points came up, so that local commuters could also access the elevated road from the service roads. After keeping a consultation meeting with the district administration and civic agencies, NHAI officials cleared the decision of adding two more entry and exit points for the Sohna elevated road project. A foot over bridge near Tikri village has also been approved while entry to condominiums from the service roads will be widened. These changes will not add on to extra tolling rates as the toll charges are kept the same. The highway authority also said the section from Badshahpur to Subash Chowk of the elevated road will be opened in the first week of July as most of the work is in the finishing stages.
